Radiological Response Unit (RRU)
Mission

Augment & support the needs of federal, state and local response agencies with the care, transport, & treatment of patients resulting from a radiological emergency by providing detection, decontamination and dosimetry capabilities for patients and responders.
Capabilities
- State available & activated, 24/7 response asset
- RRU teams staffed from both the prehospital & hospital setting with specific training will draw from caches of pre-positioned equipment to enhance and augment prehospital and hospital care efforts in the event of a radiological emergency in Texas
- Caches pre-positioned in all [8] TX EMTF Regions:
- [8] Primary Caches; [1] in each TX EMTF Region
- [4] Supplemental Caches located in EMTFs 2, 6, 7 & 8
